Baby Storytime 5/8/14

Book read: All of Baby Nose to Toes by Victoria Adler

Pop Goes the Weasel
All around the mulberry bush, (bounce baby)
The monkey chased the weasel.
The monkey thought was all in fun.
Pop goes the weasel! (lift baby up)

A penny for a spool of thread,
A penny for a needle,
That's the way the money goes,
Pop goes the weasel!

A Bouncing We Will Go (from Jbrary)
A bouncing we will go,
A bouncing we will go,
High ho the derry-o
A bouncing we will go!
Other verses include a hugging we will go, a rocking we will go, a clapping we will go, etc.

Rickety Rocking Horse (from Perry Public Library)
Rickety, rickety rocking horse, (bounce baby)
Over the fields we go (lift baby)
Rickety, rickety rocking horse,
Giddy up, Giddy up, (bounce baby)
WHOA! (lean backwards)

Head, Shoulders, Knees and Toes

Acka Backa Soda Cracker (from Northport Library)
Acka backa soda cracker,
Acka back boo! (rock or bounce baby)
Acka backa soda cracker,
I love you! (give baby a hug)

Acka backa soda cracker,
Acka back boo!
Acka backa soda cracker,
Up goes you! (lift baby)

I'm a little cuckoo clock (from Born to Read)
Tick tock, tick tock, (rock baby)
I'm a little cuckoo clock!
Tick tock, tick tock,
It's one o'clock!
CUCKOO! (lift baby once)

Tick tock, tick tock,
I'm a little cuckoo clock!
Tick tock, tick tock,
It's two o'clock!
CUCKOO! CUCKOO! (lift baby twice)

Wheels on the Bus

The Elevator Song (done with parachute, from Jbrary)
Oh the city is great and the city is grand.
There's a whole lot of people on a little piece of land.
And we live way up on the 57th floor.
This is what we do when we go out the door:
We take the elevator up and the elevator down.
We take the elevator up and the elevator down.
And we turn around.

Row, row, row your boat (with parachute)

Literacy tip of the week: Each book you read to your child introduces new and different words. You reinforce your baby's knowledge of these words when you read a book repeatedly.
